A Team Built for Complex Cases
Our service is specifically designed for patients who have been through repeated investigations, unclear diagnoses or treatments that have not worked. Each member of the team has been carefully selected by Dr Gupta and brings a high level of skill in managing difficult or advanced cases.
The team includes specialists in:
- Gynaecology (including advanced laparoscopic and robotic surgery)
- Colorectal surgery
- Urology
- Pain management
- Radiology
- Pelvic physiotherapy
Working together, we treat a wide range of complex presentations including:
- Deep infiltrating endometriosis
- Endometriosis affecting the bowel or bladder
- Recurrent or persistent pelvic pain
- Endometriosis-related fertility issues
- Thoracic and scar endometriosis
- Cases requiring revision or robotic surgery
Robotic-Assisted Surgery with the Da Vinci System
Robotic surgery allows our team to perform highly precise procedures, particularly in areas of the pelvis that are difficult to access. The Da Vinci system supports better visualisation, control, and accuracy during surgery, and is especially helpful in repeat or high-risk cases.
Potential benefits include:
- Smaller incisions and quicker recovery
- Reduced post-operative pain
- Lower risk of complications
- Shorter hospital stays
At Manchester Women’s Health, every member of the surgical team is experienced in working with this technology, making it an integral part of how we care for patients with complex endometriosis.
What to Expect from Your Consultation
Appointments with Dr Gupta are thorough and tailored to your individual situation. A typical consultation lasts around 30 minutes and includes:
- A detailed discussion of your symptoms and history
- Review of any previous test results or treatments
- Planning of any additional investigations if needed
- A clear explanation of possible diagnoses and treatment options
- A chance to ask questions and understand the next steps
If surgery is recommended, you’ll be guided through the process in full. Dr Gupta’s trusted team will support you throughout your treatment and recovery.
Recognising the Signs of Endometriosis
Endometriosis can present in many different ways. Some women live with symptoms for years before receiving a diagnosis, often being told that scans or tests are normal.
Common symptoms include:
- Painful or heavy periods
- Pain during or after sex
- Persistent pelvic pain
- Pain passing urine or opening the bowels
- Fatigue and low energy
- Difficulty conceiving
In some cases, endometriosis can affect areas such as the chest (thoracic endometriosis) or previous surgical scars, causing pain or bleeding that occurs in a cycle with your period.
Even if previous tests have not shown a clear cause, expert assessment can make all the difference.
